Over the years, we’ve seen many relationships bloom at Merrill Gardens. When two of our residents, Trudy and Daniel met – sparks flew!
How Did Trudy & Daniel meet?
Since moving in to Merrill Gardens, their paths crossed in the dining room from time to time. One day, Trudy asked Daniel if he would like to join her for her morning walks. He said yes, and the pair have been together ever since.
About the Couple: Trudy moved to the community in November of 2011 and Daniel Garcia moved in May of 2011.
Trudy and Daniel have decided to becoming life partners, and are enjoying life together at Merrill Gardens with their little dog Buddy.
We wish Trudy & Daniel many years of happiness together at Merrill Gardens!
Caroline is celebrating her 100th birthday at Canyon Lakes!
Carolina has been living at our Canyon Lakes community in Kennewick, WA for over 15 years and we’ve been lucky to have her! The third of six children, Caroline was born in Glendale, California in 1912. She attended UCLA with aspirations of becoming a teacher, but left school to marry her husband, Bill.
Caroline has one daughter, two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

When asked what she believes is the greatest invention of her lifetime, Caroline answered, “Oh boy! There’s a lot of things, but the automobile was the best. You didn’t have to ride on a horse anymore.”
Happy Birthday Caroline – we wish you the best and many years to come!
We love travel and so do our residents. Recently, three of our Washington communities went on a weekend getaway!
Our communities at Renton, Island House and The University all packed up, hopped the Merrill Gardens bus, and took a weekend long trip to Leavenworth, Washington.
We stayed at the Enzian Inn, in the center of downtown Leavenworth and enjoyed a weekend of shopping and fine dining.
The highlight of the weekend was The Sound of Music performance in Leavenworth’s very own outdoor theater! Everyone had a great time and the show was amazing. After the show, we even had the opportunity to meet the cast. At the end of the show, Maria, Captain Vontrap & Mother Superior came down for picture time with everyone.
As the weekend concluded, we were left with fond memories and many happy photos.
