Grand Opening at Merrill Gardens at Lafayette!

We welcomed our residents to their new home at our newest community in Lafayette, California with one heck of a party!  We wish you could have joined us but click below to watch the video and it will feel just like you were there.  Except that you did not get to taste the wonderful food our dining team put together!

We hate to brag but we think our new community is just beautiful and we are so pleased that residents feel the same way!  We had a big crowd from the Lafayette area join us for the party and our team was just thrilled to show off our beautiful apartments and all the amenities at the community.Lafayette Grand Opening 5

A Seahawk Returns to His Nest

Last week, Kirkland resident Ele Pramuk had a very special visitor: her grandson, Stephen Schilling. He was a very special visitor for the rest of Kirkland too, since most Seattleites know him as #63 for the Seattle Seahawks. During his visit, Stephen met with his grandma’s fellow residents and friends, signing autographs and discussing life in the NFL.

A Bellevue High School grad who was drafted to the San Diego Chargers in 2011, Stephen has returned home to play for the Seattle Seahawks this past year. At 6’5” and 312 pounds, Stephen stands a little taller than Grandma Ele, who is listed at quite a bit less on the Kirkland Wii bowling roster. Nonetheless, she is known as a fierce competitor just like her grandson!

Stephen’s mother, Joanne Schilling, joined him during the exciting Kirkland visit. It was the perfect 12th Man celebration in preparation for the Thanksgiving win over the San Francisco 49ers!

Residents at Oceanside Fly Like an Eagle

Merrill Gardens residents in Oceanside, CA had a special treat last week. The group took a trip to the San Diego Air and Space Museum.

Now, no one got to fly any actual planes, but we did get a chance to tour the cockpits of some famous jets.

Standing on Top of the World

What do our residents from First Hill do on a sunny but cold day in Seattle? They go up as high as they can and admire the views of course – from inside!

Merrill Gardens Gives Back to the Community

We want to congratulate the warm hearts and giving spirit of Merrill Gardens of First Hill, Willow Glen and The Patrician. These three communities all participated in events to benefit the Alzheimer’s Association.

First Hill raised close to $5000 through their fundraising and participation in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Seattle, while the folks from The Patrician hit the streets of San Diego. At the same time, Willow Glen hosted their own fundraising event. It was all part of Merrill Gives Back Month. Great job guys!

There are too many great photos for one blog post, so make sure to check out the photo albums on our Facebook Page.

Up, Up and Away

Crystal Mountain in summer. Via www.CrystalMountainResort.com

Residents and team members at our Tacoma, WA community recently took a day trip to one of Washington’s favorite spots – Crystal Mountain Resort.

Don’t look down!

During the winter, this winter paradise is one of the top ski areas in the state. But in the summer, nature enthusiasts can take a ride all the way to the 7,000 foot peak and enjoy majestic vistas without the inconvenience of a blizzard.

Going up the mountian

The views from the summit are stunning, and when you make it to the top, you can see see Mount Adams, Mount Saint Helens and Mount Rainier.

And if you decide to go on this trip yourself one day, don’t worry if you forget to pack a lunch to the top. The Summit House is the highest restaurant in the state.
