The folks at Merrill Gardens at Campbell, CA decided it was high time for an adventure. So they headed down to the Pacific Coast about halfway between Santa Cruz and Monterrey, to a little piece of nature called the Elkhorn Slough.
Elkhorn Slough is one of California’s largest wetlands and part of a National Estuarine Reserve. It’s inhabited by a sea lions, sea otters, harbor seals, hundreds of species of nesting birds, a large variety of endangered animals and even some feeding sharks.
Our brave explorers enjoyed their mini-safari on a 27 foot pontoon boat, where they spotted wildlife aplenty.
Our residents kept a close eye out for those feeding sharks, but luckily all of the animals they ran across were peaceful.
