2025 HERO of the Year

One of the highlights of our year is the chance to honor the Merrill Senior Living Hero of the Year. This is an exceptional team member who exemplifies our values and consistently focuses on providing the best care to our residents.

Each of our 61 communities honors a Hero each month, and the Hero of the Year is chosen from that group. This year, the award went to Dania Moreno, a caregiver from Merrill Gardens at Tukwila (WA). Dania and her mother, Yadira, both began working at the community a few years ago as caregivers in our Garden House Memory Care. They were both exceptional in their care of residents, and it was painfully ironic when Yadira herself began to show signs of cognitive impairment. Dania became her mother’s full-time caregiver until her mother passed away last year.

After taking time away from the community, Dania returned, and even through her tremendous loss, she brought passion and dedication to caring for residents. There are echoes of her mother every day at the community, and Dania continues to shine.

Dania was recently honored at our annual company meeting, where she accepted her award from President Tana Gall. The video below captures Dania in action and shows the love her fellow team members and residents have for her.
