We are so excited to announce our new Around the World activities program!
Each Merrill Gardens community will embrace a new country's culture each month of 2019. They will involve activities such as dining demonstrations, language learning opportunities through salutations and writing exercises, outings relating to the culture and documentary film showings in the community theater. We will also be featuring art from each country with our Meural art canvases.
The schedule of celebrations is as follows for 2019:
- February – China
- March – Ireland
- April – Brazil
- May - Mexico
- June – Community's Choice
- July – United States of America
- August – End Celebration: Culmination of Countries
- September – December: Open for holiday seasons
Starting off with Chinese New Year this month and ending the year with holiday celebrations, this is such a fun way to learn and embrace difference cultures in our communities!
We have already seen a few communities celebrating Chinese New Year. Daisy at Merrill Gardens at Renton Centre created a beautiful watercolor card in honor of Chinese New Year! We are excited to see how our communities will celebrate this fun Around the World event schedule!
