Gilroy's Helping Hand

Written by The Team at Merrill Gardens | Aug 20, 2020 7:00:00 AM

It's not every day that someone gives up their free time to help others. At Merrill Gardens at Gilroy (CA) one local Eagle Scout, Jason Chung, is doing just that as he has spent over 190 hours giving back to his local community. With an eye towards achieving his next rank,  Jason spent time handing out smiles with multiple projects for the residents and staff.

He was able to show off some of his woodworking skills as he built a bench out in the Rose Garden for residents to enjoy, and also constructed a news board for the North Wing!

Aside from his work for the residents, Jason also took the time to help our Active Living Program Director study and review for a bus licensing exam. It's incredible to see how much he gives, even beyond what he originally sets out to do.

In addition of everything else he's done, Jason also helped with the community's effort to help raise money for Alzheimer's awareness. He was able to fundraise by selling toilet paper and paper towels, as well as donating an additional $100 on top of that!

We want to give a big thank you to Jason and wish him all the best as he continues to spread happiness everywhere he goes!
