"In joining the Merrill Gardens family I have not only made new friends, but my life has been enriched with the new challenges and opportunities that have been made available to me. It is a joy to be able to join friends in the various activities that are offered.
I actually think that being with the Merrill Gardens at Kirkland family has added years to my life because of the care and love that have been offered each day from friends and staff."
“I moved to Merrill Gardens at The University two and a half years ago from a different retirement community, and I can say that it’s 10 times better here. I had an immediate, convincing feeling that I could be happy in this community. First of all, the food is very good and that’s important to me. I know a lot about it; I’ve worked in the food industry selecting and providing food for different communities in Los Angeles. All the staff here know who you are and what you like. It’s amazing to see this community work together to provide the best activities and services. This place is really quite good; there are so many things to do, everything is possible! It’s been a great experience.”
“I have been at Truewood by Merrill, Vancouver since summer 2022. I love my cozy apartment that I share with my two kittens, Sammy and Delli.
There are many wonderful amenities here; a heated indoor pool and Jacuzzi, movie room, library, game room, beautiful grounds, and much more. There’s no chance of being bored or not having something to do because every day there are either planned outings, entertainment, craft classes, card games, educational speakers, or beanbag baseball. I am fascinated with hearing about other residents’ careers and life stories. What makes Truewood really feel like home is my friendships with these folks as they have become like family. My comfortable apartment allows me to spend a day alone occasionally to write, create crafts, or paint. We all have a full kitchen, so even though we are provided with three meals a day, we can always whip up a favorite personal meal for ourselves if we wish. And I really appreciate that we all have our own washer and dryer units. So not only are our apartments cozy and comfortable, but they are also convenient.”
Besides relocating from California to the beautiful Pacific Northwest, moving into Truewood has been the best move I’ve ever made!”
"I’ve reached the age of retirement and I am so happy and satisfied living with my friends and extended family here at Truewood by Merrill, Fig Garden. Living here means no more cleaning, cooking, ladders, back aches and so much more. It means that I feel safe and my needs are well taken care of. I have good people all around me and each day is filled with new friends and activities. I am proud of my home here at Truewood, Fig Garden where people care about me.”
"When I came to Merrill Gardens the first thing I thought was that I walked into the right place. When you have a grateful heart and know the potential friendships you can develop you begin to put people before yourself. With that, I feel life gets bigger and not smaller with Merrill Gardens."
“When we were looking for a place to live, we had two requirements: assisted living services and a pool table. We found both at Truewood by Merrill, Henderson! This community is a good size and there's always something to do. We receive a schedule every morning with different programs we can attend, there's live entertainment, music from the '40's, '50's, and '60's for those of us who like to reminisce, and a library with lots of reading nooks. We barely have time to nap because there's too much fun to be had!
We love it here. The staff and residents are all so caring and kind.”
"We knew physically, emotionally, and spiritually that it was time for us to find an assisted living residence. We started our search with a guide, produced by US News and World magazine, which helped us to prepare questions for ourselves and for the facilities we chose to visit.
We vetted five facilities online and decided to visit one of them. That visit was highly successful and was in a neighborhood where we felt we would be comfortable. Using that visit as our reference point, we visited four other assisted living and memory care facilities. Discussing our process with members of our family, our oldest granddaughter reminded us that there was such a facility in her neighborhood. The next day we decided to visit Merrill Gardens at Woodstock. The staff member who toured us was very knowledgeable and provided information about the community and treated our questions with respect and appropriateness. We were quite pleased that our small dog would be welcome and when we learned that the dining room was open from 7 AM until 7 PM we decided to propose to our family that this might be the residence for us.
That was two years ago, and our decision has stood the test of time, and Merrill Gardens at Woodstock has proven to be “the place (community) for us.”
"I thought I would have to give up all three interests when I moved to The Pines as I didn’t know anyone and wasn’t sure if they would have any activities that would interest me. What I quickly realized was that the incredible staff at The Pines was open to all of my ideas and interests. I was able to start a monthly jazz video concert and the Aviation Club, which has programs on all levels of aviation and space advancement. Eventually, I was able to use my background and do presentations to other residents on ways to help with pain management above and beyond their current regimen. If you have an interest that’s not already implemented, speak to the staff and they will help and be supportive in any way they can. I am extremely happy I made the decision to call The Pines my home. It’s been such a pleasure to be part of the Merrill Gardens family."
