As we look forward to 2021, we continue to adapt to the ever-evolving situation with COVID-19. The COVID-19 vaccine will be available soon and we are proud to announce that Merrill Gardens has partnered with CVS Pharmacies to distribute it to all of our residents and team members. While the exact timing is still under review, we do have information that should help answer a few questions!
How will the vaccine be distributed?
CVS will bring the vaccine to the community and their trained team will administer the vaccine to all residents and team members. Because this vaccine requires two doses to be effective, CVS will visit each community three different times to ensure everyone receives the needed doses.
Why does Merrill Gardens have early access to the vaccine?
Due to seniors being at high risk to have complications with the virus, it has been determined that residents and team members living and working in senior living communities will receive high priority for the vaccine.
Can I contract COVID-19 by receiving the vaccine?
No. None of the COVID-19 vaccines in development in the United States use the live virus that causes COVID-19. All vaccines are designed to teach our immune systems how to recognize and fight infections. Sometimes this process can cause minor symptoms, but these are a normal sign that body is building immunity.
