Residents from four of our Merrill Gardens communities in the Pacific Northwest came together to travel to Leavenworth, WA for a two-night mini vacation! Close to 30 residents from Merrill Gardens at Renton Centre, Merrill Gardens at The University, Merrill Gardens at Burien, and Merrill Gardens at Auburn made the trip with community representatives.
The three Merrill Gardens buses stopped in Cashmere, WA about three hours away from the greater Seattle area to take a private tour the Applets and Cotlets factory! They also stopped at the 59’er Diner for a classic burgers and fries lunch together.
Once they arrived in Leavenworth they checked into the Bavarian Hotel located in the center of town. After settling in, some residents explored the shops, enjoyed window shopping and others lounged by the pool! For dinner, they congregated at King Ludwig’s and the restaurant hired an accordion player for the large group dinner. They also celebrated resident Marlene’s 90th birthday!
The next day, they went to the Leavenworth National Fish Hatchery to see the production of Hello Dolly put on by the Leavenworth Summer Theater group. The cast came over after the show to meet residents and even sang happy birthday to Marlene.
On their way back to the west side of the state, they stopped in the city of Cashmere again to observe the Spirit of America 9/11 memorial. They also stopped off at local fruit stands and spent time exploring the town of Cle Elum.
Residents arrived back to their communities raving about their trip to other friends. What a unique experience to get together with residents from other local Merrill Gardens communities.
