The students at Our Lady of The Lake Parish School and their “Grandfriends” take turns visiting each other every month. [![](https://blog.merrillgardens.com/hubfs/Imported_Blog_Media/3_xpooem.jpg)](https://blog.merrillgardens.com/hubfs/Imported_Blog_Media/3_ugqqug.jpg) During their last visit, the students taught their Grandfriends how to make paper snowflakes! ![](https://blog.merrillgardens.com/hubfs/Imported_Blog_Media/1_osp445.jpg) The seniors and second graders love spending time together and their activities range from trick or treating at residents’ apartments, to Easter egg hunts, to frosting cookies, and even potato sack races! ![](https://blog.merrillgardens.com/hubfs/Imported_Blog_Media/IMG_4622_osielu.jpg) When the residents visit their school friends in the classroom, the principal always stops by to say hello and he also makes sure to invite the residents to school events such as musical productions and shows. ![](https://blog.merrillgardens.com/hubfs/Imported_Blog_Media/5_injess.jpg) The residents really enjoy building relationships with the students and watching them progress throughout the year – especially in their reading and writing skills. We want to send a big thank you to Our Lady of The Lake Parish School for this fantastic inter-generational partnership! --- #### Tag: #### Share: - [Follow us on Facebook](http://www.facebook.com/share.php?u=https://blog.merrillgardens.com/second-graders-and-seniors) - [Follow us on Twitter](https://twitter.com/intent/tweet?url=https://blog.merrillgardens.com/second-graders-and-seniors&text=Second-Graders%20and%20Seniors) - [Follow us on Linkedin](http://www.linkedin.com/shareArticle?mini=true&url=https://blog.merrillgardens.com/second-graders-and-seniors) - [Follow us on Pinterest](http://pinterest.com/pin/create/button/?url=https://blog.merrillgardens.com/second-graders-and-seniors&text=Second-Graders%20and%20Seniorsdescription=Merrill%20Gardens%20at%20The%20University,%20in%20Seattle,%20WA,%20has%20established%20a%20partnership%20with%20a%20second-grade%20class%20and%20the%20teacher,%20Ms.%20Nikki%20over%20the%20past%20few%20years.[...]&media=https://5001117.fs1.hubspotusercontent-na1.net/hubfs/5001117/Imported_Blog_Media/Resident_Student_l0lkzd.jpg) --- ##### [More posts](https://blog.merrillgardens.com/) ### Leave a Comment Below --- ![W3C](https://blog.merrillgardens.com/hs-fs/hubfs/MerrillGardens_January2024/images/wcag2.1AA-blue-v_jaqpmq.png?width=368&name=wcag2.1AA-blue-v_jaqpmq.png "W3C") ###### Merrill Gardens [1938 Fairview Avenue E #300 Seattle, WA 98102](https://www.merrillgardens.com/communities) [206-676-5300](tel:206-676-5300) - [Privacy Policy](https://www.merrillgardens.com/privacy-policy) - [Accessibility and Non Discrimination](https://www.merrillgardens.com/accessibility-statement) - [Do Not Share My Personal Information/Limit the Use or Disclosure of My Sensitive Personal Information](https://conversionlogix.com/ccpa-opt-out/) Copyright © 2026 Merrill Gardens [Equal Opportunity Housing](https://www.hud.gov/program_offices/fair_housing_equal_opp)
