One of the best ways to enjoy Halloween is by cozying up on the couch and watching a Halloween movie that never loses its charm, no matter how many times you see it.

Here's a collection of timeless, spooky films, along with some newer favorites. Whether you're looking for thrills, chills, or a comfort movie, this list has something for every mood—and you can keep the Halloween spirit alive well beyond October 31st.

Hocus Pocus (1993)

First on the list is Hocus Pocus, often considered one of the greatest Halloween films. Sarah Jessica Parker, Bette Midler, and Kathy Najimy shine as the Sanderson sisters—three hilariously wicked witches from the 17th century who are inadvertently brought back from the dead by an obliging teenager. You can watch this film on Disney+ or Amazon Prime.

The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)

Is it a Christmas story? A Halloween film? Both can be true. This stop-motion animated classic follows the journey of Jack Skellington, the "Pumpkin King" of Halloween Town, who gets tired of the usual spooky traditions and dreams of celebrating a cheerier holiday like Christmas. You can watch this film on Disney+ or Amazon Prime.

Frankenstein (1931)

The original "Frankenstein" is the film that inspired monster Halloween costumes. The story follows Dr. Henry Frankenstein, a scientist obsessed with creating life. He assembles a creature from the body parts of the dead and brings it to life using electricity.

However, the creature, misunderstood and feared for its monstrous appearance, soon becomes uncontrollable, wreaking havoc on the village. As the townspeople rally to destroy the monster, Dr. Frankenstein faces the consequences of his reckless ambition. You can watch this film on Peacock, Apple TV, or Amazon Prime.

The Silence of the Lambs (1991)

Anthony Hopkins and Jodie Foster performed brilliantly in "The Silence of the Lambs."

This horror movie tells the weird story of an FBI trainee, Clarice Starling, who is enlisted to help analyze the mind of a serial killer.

The film combines suspense and mystery with the psychology behind murder for a convincing plot line. You can watch this spooky film on Amazon Prime or Apple TV.

Totally Killer (2023)

Totally Killer may be relatively new; however, it is poised to be a Halloween Classic.

The film is about a young woman (Kiernan Shipka) who travels back in time to her mom's high school years to stop a tragic event. Combining the time-travel fun of Back to the Future with the thrills of Friday the 13th, it offers a fresh take on the comedy-horror genre. You can watch this film on Amazon Prime.

Beetlejuice (1988)

Beetlejuice is a must-watch at Halloween. The story follows a ghost couple trying to haunt their home's new occupants. When their attempts fail, they seek the help of the mischievous and unpredictable Beetlejuice.

You can catch this classic flick on Hulu, Max, or Amazon!

Dracula (1931)

Although the story of Dracula has been remade countless times, the original starring Bela Lugosi remains a must-watch. This black-and-white vampire tale perfectly captures the eerie atmosphere of the Halloween season and is always worth revisiting. Check out Amazon Prime or Hulu to watch Dracula.

The Addams Family (1991)

Reuniting with loved ones is always great; however, something is a little off about Uncle Fester's homecoming. The whole kooky clan starts to pick up on his strange ways, and soon, it becomes clear that he may not be the real Fester. Watch this movie on Hulu, Paramount, or Pluto TV.

We hope these films provide you with plenty of entertainment and thought-provoking moments to discuss throughout the Halloween season. Whether you're seeking spine-chilling horror, eerie suspense, or lighthearted thrills, these selections are sure to offer something for every mood and taste. So, grab some popcorn, gather your friends, and enjoy a season filled with unforgettable cinematic experiences that will keep you talking long after the credits roll.
