Tana's Top Book Picks

We are so excited to release our brand new video all about books! We asked Merrill Gardens President, Tana, what books she recommends reading this year. She gave five suggestions — with everything from business focused books to a book about...video gamers? How intriguing.

You won't want to miss this video!

The first book Tana mentions, Lessons in Chemistry, tells the story of Elizabeth Zott, who became a beloved cooking show host in the 1960s. Goodreads writes, "Elizabeth Zott finds herself not only a single mother, but the reluctant star of America’s most beloved cooking show Supper at Six. Elizabeth’s unusual approach to cooking (“combine one tablespoon acetic acid with a pinch of sodium chloride”) proves revolutionary. But as her following grows, not everyone is happy. Because as it turns out, Elizabeth Zott isn’t just teaching women to cook. She’s daring them to change the status quo." Click here to learn more.

The second book that she recommends is called Breaking the Age Code. Tana says "...it's all about ageism, and things that really dawned on me - that I hadn't really thought about." You can't go wrong with this thought-provoking book. Click here to learn more.

Next up: The Infinite Game, by Simon Sinek, one of Tana's favorite business writers. He talks about business not being a beginning or end - but an infinite game. Tana gives a beautiful description of this book in the above video. Click here to learn more.

The next book Tana recommends is Pour Your Heart Into It. This "oldie but goodie", as Tana refers to it as, focuses on customer service and what we want to accomplish when it comes to business — it touches on the fact that it's not all about money, but making people and your team happy. The fifth and final book that she mentions in this video is one a bit different. It's called Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow. While Tana isn't quite done with it yet - she already recommends it! You may think it's about video gamers from reading the description, but don't be fooled! It's about so much more than that. Click here to learn more.
