A resident at Merrill Gardens at Rancho Cucamonga (CA) virtually attended her grandson’s Navy Officer graduation on the East coast with a little finesse from the team at the community.
Resident Audrey Morrill was not able to travel with her family to the East coast to see her first grandson’s graduation from the US Navy - Officer Training Command in Newport, Rhode Island. However, the Rancho Cucamonga team worked together with her family to create such a unique experience for her right at the community.
After Audrey briefly spoke with the Rancho Cucamonga team about how she felt upset she could not make it to the graduation across the country with her family – the team made it happen for her.
Audrey’s daughter called the community receptionist, Michelle, to see if the team could live stream the graduation for Audrey on the community’s large projector screen and surprise her with a watch party. Michelle connected with the community’s Active Living Program Director, Jakina, to figure out a way to make this a reality for Audrey.
Michelle and Jakina were happy to stream the Navy Officer graduation from their phone onto a large screen for a watch party with Audrey and her friends and the community that morning.
The team set up the viewing event with coffee and pastries, and later after the ceremony was over, they hosted a lunch with celebratory mimosas for the group.
Audrey was so excited and overcome with emotion she was able to see her first grandson graduate from the Navy from the opposite side of the country!
We are extremely proud and grateful for our team members at Merrill Gardens at Rancho Cucamonga for making Audrey and other residents at the community feel special in individual ways.
