Every year, the Walk to End Alzheimer's holds special significance for our senior living communities. It's not just about raising funds—it's about coming together to support a cause that touches the lives of so many. This year, we are proud to say we surpassed our ambitious fundraising goal of $50,000, collecting an impressive $58,633 thanks to the incredible efforts of our residents, team members, and families.
Fundraising for the Walk to End Alzheimer's is a year-round effort across our communities. From bake sales to raffles, everyone played a role in supporting Alzheimer's care, support, and research. Seeing our residents, families, and team members unite for such a meaningful cause is truly inspiring. This sense of purpose is reflected in every step we take, not just on the day of the walk, but throughout the entire year.
Making a Difference, One Step at a Time
This year's walks took place in various cities where our communities are located. Each walk brought people together—residents, families, team members, and friends (furry friends included!)—all walking in honor of those affected by Alzheimer's disease. The energy and sense of community was palpable, with participants wearing their purple shirts, carrying promise flowers, and sharing stories of loved ones.
Merrill Gardens at Auburn (WA) had a blast enjoying a sunny fall day at their local Walk to End Alzheimer's. They had such a great turnout and walked for a cure!
Also in Washington state, Merrill Gardens at Ballard (WA) participated in the Seattle walk. Not only did many residents and team member show up for the cause, but three dogs did too! 😍 Merrill Gardens at Ballard raised a grand total of $3,341 through various fundraisers during the past few months! "It was a very fulfilling and rewarding day!" said Michelle, the community's Active Living Assistant.
Merrill Gardens at Burien (WA) also took part in the Seattle walk. "As a community, we spent our fundraising efforts in 2024 raising money for the Alzheimer's Association. Just before participating in the walk, we hosted a Bingo Tournament and Raffle to finish off our fundraising strong. The number of residents who came to support this cause is heartwarming and we had a very successful event and lots of fun along the way! Merrill Gardens at Burien raised $4,000. We know that 78% of our funds raised go directly to research and we are proud to support this important cause. Lastly, we would like to thank our generous local businesses for donating items for our raffle - this simply would not have been possible without them!" Christy, Active Living Program Director at Burien says. We think heartwarming is the perfect word!
Merrill Gardens at Santa Maria (CA), who came in second in the company for highest fundraising amount, goes all out every year for the Walk to End Alzheimer's!
Merrill Gardens at Woodstock (GA) got dressed up in their best purple outfits and got to walkin'!
