We are bursting with pride over the incredible work by the residents and team members at our Renton, WA, community! They raised $10,000 in their 4th annual fundraiser for the Puget Sound Honor Flight.
This non-profit organization honors Western Washington heroes on “One Last Mission” – a trip to Washington, D.C. to visit and reflect at the memorials built in their honor. The trip is free for veterans, and is made possible solely through donations. That's where the team at Merrill Gardens at Renton comes in and they have made an incredible impact with their support! With the money raised this year by the community, Puget Sound Honor Flight will be able to take ten veterans on a trip to Washington D.C.
The Renton team hosted a night filled with entertainment, featuring a silent auction and dinner for residents, families and guests.
Executive Chef Heidi Hessler created an exceptional “Through the Years” menu with wonderful recipes ranging from the 1700’s to today.
Over the past four years, Merrill Gardens at Renton Centre has collected an impressive $58,000 in donations for this one of a kind opportunity for veterans in Washington State! In addition, two residents at the community have been able to take an Honor Flight. Louise George (pictured below on the right) traveled to Washington D.C. last year accompanied by Merrill Gardens Community Relations Director Lilia Anderson (center).
“It takes a lot of time and effort to put this event together. I am so lucky to have such an amazing team, ” says Lilia. "We work on this all year and its so gratifying to see the residents and our team working together for this terrific cause."
Lilia and Senior General Manager, Shelley Thompson, were presented with appreciation plaques by Puget Sound Honor Flight for their support and dedication to this organization at the event.
