To: My New Friend

The connections we create between multiple generations are more important than ever these days. There is so much that we can learn from each other and with the various channels of communication that we have now, there is no reason why we shouldn't be sharing that knowledge!

We received this adorable story from a mom in Seattle, Washington where she explained all the good that her son was doing for residents at Merrill Gardens at The University (WA). She shared that her son sent a collection of artwork and even received a letter back from one of our residents.

The friendship blossomed when Henry received Declan's message that included a letter, some funny photos and a piece of artwork. The resident quickly wrote back and the duo is now pen pals!

This isn't the first time The University community created special friendships, they have established a program over the last few years that connect residents to a local second-grade classroom. If you would like to learn more about this program, click here or on the image below to read a blog post from earlier this year.

It's with these amazing stories in mind that we are excited to announce the start of our "Adopt a Grandparent" program which aims to help connect the younger generation to our residents. If you or someone you know would like to join, please have them click the image below and learn more about it!

We look forward to helping everyone learn from one another and continue to support friendships across generations.
